Overview:  While our traditional program runs August-June, our Winter-Spring program is a great way for new players to jump into the action in January rather than waiting until the standard tryout period in June. Tryouts for our Winter-Spring program will take place in December of 2025.  Depending on registration numbers, new players may be placed on existing Warriors SC teams or could form entirely new teams.  Please note that our Winter-Spring program is only open to players born 2014-2019.  If you have an older player who is interested in joining the club, please reach out to us at WarriorsSoccerClubMi@gmail.com.

 

Who is Warriors SC?  We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit youth travel soccer club based in Waterford, MI.  Our teams enter local outdoor and indoor leagues and compete against teams from other clubs in the area.  We generally have one team at each age group from U7-U18, though we are sometimes able to form a second team at specific age groups if numbers allow.

 

Does everyone make a team?  At the youngest ages (2017 and younger), every effort will be made to find a roster spot for all players who are interested in playing regardless of their ability or experience.  Players who are 2016 and older can expect a more traditional tryout experience as available roster spots may be limited.  As roster limits are state-mandated and cannot be exceeded, there may be situations where we are not able to accommodate all interested players.

 

How are teams divided?  As a member of the Michigan State Youth Soccer Association, we follow the birth year age group system.  This means all teams are divided into teams (and, subsequently, into leagues) by birth year.  In rare cases, players may play up an age group, but under no circumstances can a player play down an age group.

 

Does it cost anything to attend tryouts?  No.  No fees will be collected unless a player decides to join a team.

 

What's Included?  Exact programming varies by age and by team, but our typical Winter-Spring program includes the following activities:

• 2 indoor practices/week January-March
• 2 outdoor practices/week April-June
• Winter indoor league January-March (8 games)
• Spring outdoor league April-June (8-10 games)
• 1-2 Spring tournaments (2018 and older)
• Weekly Goalkeeper Training (2018 and older)
• Techne Futbol Training App Subscription
• Club Honors Banquet

This year's Winter-Spring program will run January 2026-June 2026.

 

Where are games and practices?  Practices will be held indoors at Oakland Yard Athletics. Indoor game locations are TBA.  Outdoor home games will take place at Rotary Park or Waterford Civic Center.

 

Tryout Date/Times:  Tryout dates and times are below.  As this program integrates players halfway through our season, our window of time to get players registered is extremely short.  For that reason, we cannot offer make-up tryouts for players who are unable to attend tryouts on their designated date.

Tryout Location:  Oakland Yard Athletics - North Dome (5328 Highland Rd, Waterford Twp, MI 48327).  The North Dome is the smaller dome in the back - drive around behind the Main Dome to find the parking lot for the North Dome.

 

Cost:  There is no cost to attend tryouts.  If a player decides to join a team, player fees are as follows:

Players born 2019: TBA
Players born 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018: TBA

These fees cover all league and event registration fees, field and facility rental fees, training fees, referee fees, etc. for the Winter-Spring program which runs January 2026-June 2026.  Uniforms are an additional cost.  Fees will be broken into monthly payments (payment schedule TBA).

 

What to Bring:  All players attending tryouts should bring shin guards, a soccer ball, and water.  Oakland Yard's FieldTurf surface can accommodate standard outdoor soccer cleats, indoor soccer shoes, or normal gym shoes.
