OVERVIEW:  Warriors Academy is a beginner winter soccer league open to players born 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.  Many players try Warriors Academy before trying out for a Warriors SC team at our Winter Tryouts in December.  All Warriors Academy games are held at Oakland Yard, the official training facility of Warriors SC.  Warriors Academy includes:

• 6-game winter soccer league
• Warriors SC t-shirt
• Warriors SC coaching
• Techne Futbol training app subscription
• Awards for the top two teams in each division

 

COST: $60

 

GAME DATES: 11/6, 11/13, 11/20, 12/4, 12/11, 12/18. No games 11/27 due to Thanksgiving.  All games will be played at 5 PM, 6 PM or 7 PM (schedules coming late October).

 

TEAM PLACEMENT: Interested in playing on the same team as a friend or sibling? Please submit your request when registering.

MORE INFORMATION: Teams will be separated into two coed divisions: a 2016/2017 division and a 2018/2019 division.  Please keep this in mind when making teammate requests.  Teams in the 2016/2017 division will play 6v6 (GK and 5 field players per team).  Teams in the 2018/2019 division will play 4v4 (4 field players per team, no GKs).  There will be no team practices, but all players will receive a subscription to the Techne Futbol training app (a $60 value) and coaches will send out weekly training assignments.

 

LOCATION:  All games will be held at Oakland Yard in Waterford (5328 Highland Rd, Waterford Twp, MI 48327) in the North Dome.  Upon arriving, drive around behind the Main Dome to the find the smaller North Dome in the back.

 

ARRIVAL & ATTENDANCE:  For the first game, please try to arrive 20 minutes before your scheduled kickoff time in order to check in, receive your player's t-shirt, and meet the coach.  For all subsequent games, please try to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled kickoff time.  If you are unable to attend a game, please contact your coach to let them know as early as possible.

 

EQUIPMENT:  Each player will receive Warriors Academy t-shirt (different colors for each team) which should be worn to all games.  All players should bring shin guards, water and a ball to each game.  Oakland Yard has a turf playing surface.  Normal outdoor soccer cleats are fine, as are indoor soccer shoes, turf shoes, or normal gym shoes.

 

RULES

FIFA Laws Of The Game will be used with the following exceptions:

4v4 Division

- Games will be 4v4 with no GKs.
- Kick-ins will be used instead of throw-ins. Kick-ins are indirect.
- All free kicks are indirect; opposing players must be at least 5 yards away.
- The offside law is not used.
- Heading is not permitted.
- On a Goal Kick, all opposing players must retreat behind midfield until the ball is in play.
- The game will be 40 minutes in length (two 20-minute halves, 5-minute halftime).
- A size 3 ball will be used.

6v6 Division

- Games will be 6v6 with GKs.
- Opposing players must be at least 8 yards away from all restarts.
- The offside law is not used.
- Heading is not permitted.
- On a Goal Kick or when the GK has the ball in his/her hands, all opposing players must retreat behind midfield until the ball is in play.
- GKs may not punt the ball. They may drop the ball to their feet and play or may distribute with their hands.
- The game will be 40 minutes in length (two 20-minute halves, 5-minute halftime).
- A size 4 ball will be used.

 

STANDINGS & AWARDS:  Teams will receive 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, and 0 points for a loss.  At the end of the season, awards will be given to the top 2 teams in each division.  If two teams are tied in the standings, tiebreakers will be as follows:

- Head to head (not applicable in the case of a 3-way tie)
- Goal difference in games between tied teams (maximum 4 goal spread per game)
- Total goal difference (maximum 4 goal spread per game)
